Green Top LPG Engine Information

After we recently pushed an FG dedicated LPG engine to over 500kw at the wheels, we thought we would break down the differences between the turbo and LPG engines.

-PISTONS-
BF-FG LPG engine has a 10.3:1 compression ratio
Pistons have a thinner piston skirt.

BF-FG Turbo engine has a 8.7:1 -8.8:1 compression ratio
Pistons are alot thicker through the piston skirt.

-CONRODS-
BA-Early BF Turbos have very weak, thin beam rods, they are basically the same as an AU single cam engine.

From June 2006 BF-FG turbo rods have a thicker beam than the previous models, and have full floating gudgen.

BF-FG LPG conrods are very similar to turbo rods but have a press fit gudgen.

-VALVES-
Both the gas and turbo engines have the OE high nickel exhaust valve to help handle the heat.

Tuned carefully (compression in mind) these motors are capable of big power figures on E85.
